Psychology Department
At SCIE, we have now been teaching CIE AS Psychology for three years, and the course is very popular among the students. The first cohort proper of students will take the AL Psychology examination in June 2009, after a pilot group of only two students last year. At AS Level, students study a large number of pieces of psychological research from the fields of Cognitive, Social, Developmental, Physiological and Abnormal Psychology. At A2 level students study two optional areas, currently Abnormal Psychology and the Psychology of Organisations. We also have an active Psychology club as an extra-curricular activity where students discuss past, present and future issues from the field of Psychology. The College also has a Psychological Counsellor who helps students with personal, emotional and educational difficulties, as well as contributing to the Psychology department.
